"Situated in a highland mountain valley Tepoztlán is one of Mexico’s most unique colonial towns. With a breath-taking mountainous landscape, charming town center, many echoes of ancient civilizations, and an interesting convergence of inhabitants, the town becomes a great place to explore in one or more days. The region is rich in natural energy sources like volcanoes, fertile vegetation, rivers and lakes, waterfalls, and springs of mineral water which make the area one of the top places in Mexico visited by people seeking alternative therapies, Aztec steam baths, healing, and health rejuvenation. Fun fact: Most UFO's in Mexico were seen in Tepoztlan 😉. The central attractions are the colonial ex-convent, the traditional mercado which opens daily just off the main square, the lively artisans market which sets-up every weekend, and the mountain-top pyramid El Tepozteco. An please have a walk through the streets at there is so much to explore like wall art and little handcraft shops. Besides the cultural activities you'll find here many haciendas and old properties converted in beautiful luxury holiday and spa resorts. If you feel like spending money on a nice stay this is definitely the place to do so. Good to know: The town is a popular get-away destination for Chilangos seeking weekend entertainment and recreation. Here as well our tip: Avoid weekends and holidays. "
