"This is a small but smart spot on an unassuming residential street a short stroll from colourful Ridley Road Market. There’s an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs at work, and different members of the team take turns to bring dishes to the table, allowing you to meet them all. The interiors are dominated by clean white walls, but exposed-brick features and wooden tables add warmth. There’s one option if you want a full meal – the six-course set tasting menu. It changes regularly to suit what’s in season but is grounded in modern, inventive cooking. There are precisely 10 options on the wine list, each one carefully selected, all natural and low intervention. It’s worth taking the team’s suggestions by the glass to match the food. The spot achieved one Michelin-star a couple of years ago, and has continued to go from strength to strength – worth travelling to if you don’t live nearby and visiting repeatedly if you do. "

"Good restaurant. A bit too pricy for what it is. The food is well made but it is lacking of taste and their natural wine selection is a bit shit"

@jimmystansted

"Italian chef Adolfo de Cecco eats, sleeps and breathes his vocation. Tucked away in a parade of shops off Dalston High Road, this tightly packed neighbourhood gem has a cosy, derelict-chic feel – and its shelves strain under the weight of cookery books, wines and fermented products. The tables by the kitchen are as good as any chef’s table and there’s a spacious rear terrace for warmer days. The chefs work calmly in the open kitchen, preparing a great value and truly enjoyable daily set menu of innovative dishes which take in many Pacific influences. Asian flavours fuse with Mediterranean traditions which, along with the chef’s daring but carefully judged touch, make for some intriguing combinations – and the vegetarian options are equally appealing and original. A modestly priced wine flight completes the picture."

"Go before it's too late. One of the all time great tasting menus. They made a cooked piece of cucumber. Ooosh. Genius really When I first went in spring 2021, just before it got a star, it was £80 for tasting and wine flight... I mean fucking silly business It's now up to £87 in winter 2021 including wine so assume that will keep rising. Get there "
