"Mies van der Rohe's 1958 masterpiece typified his less-is-more philosophy and is a triumph of the International Style. In fact, he stated this was his only work in the US that met his stringent European standards of design, extrapolated from the architect's classic German Pavilion for the Barcelona World Expo in 1929. It was the first tower to use floor-to-ceiling windows to achieve the modernist ideal of a glass curtain, and although construction codes prevented him from displaying the structural steel frame itself, Van der Rohe added in non-supportive bronze-tinted beams. Despite the austere aesthetic, the extravagant use of materials meant this was the world's most expensive building at the time. It served as a model for almost every NYC Skyscraper that followed. 375 Park Avenue, www.375parkavenue.com"

"Mrakodrap Miese Van der Rohe se soukromně veřejným prostorem před budovou. Jde vstoupit do lobby (vhodné to případně říct ostraze). Svého času nejdražší budova světa kvůli použitému bronzu. Mies měl neomezený rozpočet. Zajímavost: Mies dovolil rolety jen úplně, vůbec nebo do poloviny - vše ostatní nesnesl - teď už to neplatí."
