Via Carota : le restaurant italien incontournable à New York

"Sparsely decorated yet warm and inviting, with plenty of wood and exposed brick, Via Carota is the kind of place where you might run into celebrities, but where you’ll feel totally comfortable sitting next to them in jeans and a T-shirt. But they don't take reservations here, so the flip side of all that cool is that waits at peak times can push three hours. The menu is full of supremely delicious creations from Rita Sodi and Jody Williams, who between them run Buvette in NYC and Paris, I Sodi a couple blocks away, and Bar Pisellino across the street. Even the relatively straightforward vegetable dishes, like the carrots with yogurt and pistachios, are remarkable in their fresh simplicity."

"Omar’s and Paul’s reco It doesn’t matter that Via Carota has been around for more than a decade because the buzz over this place is consistently set to crazed. Supposedly reservations are released a month out every day at 10am, but stories abound about the tables made available are at off times—3:15pm lunch, anyone?"

"Many people don’t even know Via Carota takes reservations, which just proves how hard they are to come by. If you don’t want to put your name down at 4 and be told to come back at 9, try to secure a reservation on Resy 30 days in advance. Reservations are extremely limited, so be sure to mark your calendars! I don’t know about you, but I’ll make dinner plans one month in advance with that guy I’m not sure I’m into, just for the Cacio e Pepe. also mentioned in the Wallpaper guide; "a no-reservations Italian-inspired hit by Jody Williams and Rita Sodi""

Server was pretty rude and there were mice popping up all over the covered outside area we were sitting in, but overall good food. The short ribs special was awful though… not seasoned at all and the polenta was cooked very poorly "

"What is it? This cozy Italian restaurant, run by the chef power couple of Jody Williams and Rita Sodi, is a rustic, sophisticated and heart-swelling gem. Why we love it? The simple food—towering insalata verde, hearty chopped steak and any of the soul-satisfying pastas—makes this Village favorite a place where everyone wants to be a regular."
