"mentioned in the Wallpaper guide; "an impressive range of regional hooch" The passing of the state Farm Distillery Act in 2007 ushered in a new wave of artisanal makers. It stipulates that local grains must be used in spirits production - and Still The One's Westchester No 4 is crafted from 100 per cent New York State rye, which is aged in charred-oak barrels in Port Chester, on the border with Connecticut. The whiskey begins with vanilla and caramel notes that give way to a measured, spicy finish. Keep an eye out for some of our other favourite NYC tipples - Perry's Tot Navy Strength Gin from the Williamsburg-based New York Distilling Company and Straight Bourbon from Kings County Distillery in Brooklyn Navy Yard.
