"John Van Doren and Dorsey Waxter set up their Upper East Side gallery (T 212 445 0444) in 2013 to specialise in postwar US abstract painters including seminal figures such as John McLaughlin, and secondary market works by the likes of Alan Shields and Hedda Sterne. In 2017 it merged with its Lower East Side subsidiary 11R (now known as 195 Chrystie Street), managed by Augusto Arbizo, which for the previous decade had built a reputation for showing emerging talent. On its books are NY-based Michael DeLucia, Volker Hüller and Jackie Saccoccio, whose exhibition 'Sharp Ojects & Confetti Apocalypse' (above) featured oil-and-mica and gouache-and-ink canvases in a storm of acidic colour. "When the partnership between galleriest Ronald K. Greenberg and John Van Doren ended in 2012, their blue-chip 57th Street venue, Greenberg Van Doren, shuttered. Van Doren has since teamed up with the former gallery's director, Dorsey Waxter. A name change and move to a swank Upper East Side townhouse followed. The new venture concentrates on secondary-market sales of historically established artists such as John Chamberlain, Sam Francis, Helen Frankenthaler, Hans Hofmann and Ellsworth Kelly."
