Davelle : Café japonais et brunch cosy à New York

"NYT When Davelle first opened in the Lower East Side, it felt impossible to snag a table. (Fair enough, as the place is tiny, the hours are short, and the checkerboard toasts cry out to be Instagrammed.) Now, somehow, it’s been six years, and, while the passage of time is tripping me out, the upside is that I can more reliably walk into Davelle, sit by the big windows and eat a perfect chicken katsu don. The breaded, fried chicken thigh is cooked in a savory egg-onion-soy-mirin-dashi combination, all served over, you guessed it, rice."

"this petite, very stylish all-day cafe is modeled after kissaten, traditional tea and coffee shops that have been around japan since the late 1800s. here, that translates to lunch sets with dishes like spaghetti in tomato sauce or curry over rice with salad and soup. it comes from yudai kanayama, who also owns popular east village restaurant izakaya. very good izakaya!!!"

"Davelle is an all-day Japanese restaurant that’s about the size of a studio apartment you’d find on Suffolk Street. But the limited space makes the list of curry options, daily breakfast and lunch, and variety of cocktails and wine all the more impressive. We typically get the uni spaghetti, thick and savory pork curry that’s been stewed for five hours, or one of their decadent Japanese toasts for breakfast. When you need a spot for a calm one-on-one with a friend, consider Davelle."
