"Naengmyun is solid. Self serve bone brother is a hangover cure"

"Naengmyeon (cold beef noodle soup) and kimchi mandu Known for its terrific mul naengmyeon, this casual restaurant indeed serves one of LA’s most refreshing versions of the buckwheat noodle soup, which is great with a sizzler plate of grilled galbi. The menu is otherwise reasonably compact, and while cooler days might not lead to cravings for cold, tangy noodle soup, things like boiled mandu and kalguksu (hot knife-cut noodle soup) are worth trying outside of the summer months."

"Yuchun is known for their refreshing, cold naengmyeon noodles (which is why we head there whenever LA does that thing where it’s 90 degrees every day for three months), but if the temperature hasn’t yet hit scalding levels yet, try their bibimbap. Their dolpan version is quite traditional - served in a sizzling, hot stone pot, and topped with bean sprouts, kimchi, and fresh cabbage (which will soften nicely once mixed with the other warmer ingredients). But what makes this bibimbap stand out is their protein, pork bulgogi. It comes slathered with gochujang, and is the perfect complement to the otherwise mild-tasting bowl of rice. Chic Mul Naengmyun File this one away for when the temperature in LA does that thing where it’s 88 degrees every day for three months straight. Yu Chun is a tiny restaurant in Koreatown with a menu full of different soups, dumplings, and galbi platters, but everyone here is ordering the naengmyun. It’s a giant bowl of cold kudzu noodles (cut with scissors) chilling in an icy, vinegar-y broth filled with boiled beef, radishes, and sesame seeds. It’s an incredibly refreshing soup, and if you’re looking to add a little heat, be sure to ask for plenty of spicy mustard. "
