This is a traditional piece of Portuguese architecture built in the 18th century and was once home to Britain’s celebrated General Beresford, Commander of the Armed Force, during the Napoleonic Wars. It was a family home for many years before being transformed into the boutique retreat 🍽️ The Beresford is Quinta Jardins do Lago’s formal dining room whose sophisticated evening menu draws on local and international inspiration for its gourmet dishes that may be eaten alfresco during the warmer months. More outdoor dining is available beside the fresh-water pool at Colombo Bistro, which is a casual spot for drinks, snacks, pizza and pasta. And a sun-soaked veranda leading from the Jade Room (check out the intricate 16th-century ceramic wall panel) allows you to enjoy the buffet breakfasts in the fresh air. Cocktails and nightcaps are O Visconde Bar’s speciality, often accompanied by the tinkling of a piano and singing."
