"Long pedestrian promenade lined with trees, benches and commemorative statues. It’s one of the most popular places to visit in Central Park year round, so expect to find plenty of dog walkers, coffee drinkers, tourists and locals even in the depths of winter. It's a favorite NYC photo spots, not just because we’ve seen it in a million movies, but because the curving trees create a wonderful natural frame. Keep an eye out for snow sculptures created by artists on the sides of The Mall."

"The Mall est une allée rectiligne bordée d’ormes d’Amérique tellement imposants qu’ils se referment au-dessus de nos têtes comme un plafond. Beaucoup empruntent cette allée pour traverser le parc, d’où son surnom “The Mall” (le centre commercial). Évidemment, en hiver il y a moins d’intérêt à passer ici, puisque les arbres ont perdu leurs feuilles. Mais durant les autres saisons, c’est un des plus beaux spots de Central Park."

"A lovely area for walking, the Mall is a straight, wide pathway running beneath a canopy of huge trees in the south end of Central Park. This spot offers a peaceful retreat from the busy streets of New York City and a chance to enjoy a little nature. Even in winter, when the park is covered in snow, this is a great place for a stroll. Joining the Mall is the Literary Walk, lined with statues of literary giants that include Shakespeare, Robert Burns, and Sir Walter Scott, as well as others. --- The Mall is the only path laid out as a straight line in the park. The designers did that so that there could be a big buildup leading to Bethesda Terrace, north of the Mall. The American Elm trees that line both sides of the Mall, one of the largest collections of these trees in the United States. The trees create a “cathedral ceiling” over the pathway. The Mall quickly became a popular spot for wealthy New Yorkers when the park opened. It was New York’s answer to Hyde Park or the Bois de Boulogne. Carriages would drop people off at the start of The Mall and then loop around to the top to pick them up. Also along the pathway is the Literary Walk, a collection of statues of famous writers. William Shakespeare is the first statue of the walk. Many famous photographs and film scenes have been filmed here such as Doctor Who, Jessica Jones, Person of Interest, and the movie Enchanted."
