"1 Michelin star 2024 Chef Shigeyuki Tsunoda Dinner is $285, or $342 after 20% tip Loyal patrons will be reassured that all is well when stepping inside Noda's new space, as that same moody speakeasy vibe has been effortlessly transferred here. Service also remains top-notch, thanks to sharp-suited members who shake fantastic cocktails and wipe down every errant dot of soy. As always, Chef Shigeyuki Tsunoda undertakes his duties with calm, unhurried efficiency and his omakase is rooted in tradition. Confident knife cuts, warmed rice and pristine fish are par for the course. The meal begins with small snacks before progressing into the pristine nigiri, where the standouts are sea eel and two kinds of uni. The beverage program is impressive, with vintage champagne and a comprehensive sake collection showcasing rare bottles not found elsewhere."

""Nothing says “authentic sushi” more than an elusive or, in this case, non-existent sign outside. The interior, though, eschews the bare aesthetic of traditional sushi-yas and opts instead for something more flamboyant and theatrical—the space, after all, was once a speakeasy and gambling parlor. There’s even a small bar, which means you don’t have to time your arrival to the dot but can gather first for a cocktail. Chef Shigeyuki Tsunoda undertakes his duties with calm, unhurried efficiency and his omakase—in contrast to the surroundings—is rooted in tradition. Before the Edomae-style nigiri come various snacks that are especially enjoyable when paired with something from their broad range of nihonshu. A seasonal soup and creamy chawanmushi with generous spoonfuls of both Hokkaido uni and Osetra caviar are followed by tender abalone, rich red bonito, succulent scallop, and other mouthfuls of delight. The nigiri is an easy-to-eat size and the rice is body temperature so its flavor really comes through. The exquisite counter seats just eight and its semicircular shape allows you to check out your fellow diners. Everyone is served together and there are two seatings a night. ONE STAR.""

"Less than 10 seats, super intimate, excellent food"

"Opulent decor goes along with a well-paced omakase at Michelin-starred Noda, where the charming and chatty chef Shigeyuki Tsunoda runs a 10-seat counter with two dinners nightly. A meal begins with small appetizers before heading into edomae-inspired nigiri and then dessert. Unlike many local high-end omakase, Noda differentiates itself with a lush room filled with velvet and red lighting, designed by famed designer Ken Fulk. At $285 per person for 20- to 22-courses, it’s a splurge — but unlike some of the other high-priced sushi menus around town, the crowd and vibe here is conducive to feeling like the meal is a special occasion. Note: The meal must be paid for in advance on the reservations website."
