"The air at Florería Atlántico, in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires, is decadent with the scent of fresh flowers. Some pedestrians may wander in looking for a bouquet for an aggrieved girlfriend or wine for a dinner party, but those in the know are aware of what lies beneath the unassuming flower and wine shop. Inside, a hulking refrigerator door swings back to reveal the entrance to a subterranean chamber."

"Buenos Aires, c'est le brassage de 4 millions d'Européens : une culture et une identité construites par des migrants aux différents univers. Ce melting-pot général se ressentait notamment dans les bars de la capitale. La vie nocturne, cosmopolite, étanchait sa soif parmi les maîtres brasseurs allemands, le rhum cubain ou encore le champagne : à croire que chacun arrivait avec sa bouteille locale sous le bras ! Au Floreria Atlantico, le barman Tato Giovannoni rend hommage à cette histoire multinationale de la ville en proposant des cocktails uniques et voluptueux. Une adresse secrète à l'accès pour le moins surprenant : il faut d'abord passer par un fleuriste, puis franchir une porte de réfrigérateur innocente qui cache un escalier. On arrive ensuite dans un sous-sol chaleureux dont l'atmosphère nous plonge au XX e siècle. Une adresse charmante considérée comme l'un des meilleurs bars au monde !"

"Disguises are usually deceptive but by now, the blooming florist and well-stocked wine store on an elegant Retiro street barely camouflages Buenos Aires’ legendary speakeasy Florería Atlántico. Pull open the antique fridge door and descend into the underworld created by graphic designer-turned-bartender Renato ‘Tato’ Giovannoni and hotelier partner Aline Vargas, hospitality royalty in Rio de Janeiro, BA and London. This basement tavern, decorated with sea monsters hand-painted by Giovannoni, is where a thousand Argentinian cocktail stories have begun, and while Florería initially focused on Old World migrant beverage cultures, from Dutch genever to Italian amari, today’s cocktail tome pays tribute to Argentina’s indigenous communities, such as the Yamaná, as well as now-extinct colonies. Given that sustainability is a core pillar, the team works closely with regional farmers to source ingredients – sample Welsh-inspired Gaiman, named for the Patagonian town, crafted with Corinth wine, rhubarb, bara brith tea and gin."
