"Top 100 - 66 Try the Martini Via Aurelia is the latest restaurant from the team behind Che Fico, and this time they’re diving into Tuscan cuisine in the up-and-coming Mission Rock neighborhood. It’s a fine dining restaurant, with interiors designed by Jon de la Cruz, their frequent collaborator. Diners can expect Tuscan classics such as pappardelle with wild boar ragu, but also lesser-seen dishes like black cod with braised leeks and potatoes. An a la carte menu is available, as well as a five- to seven-course tasting menu. Interesting martinis always have a secret ingredient, and in this one it’s the olive vermouth from Veso, a hyperlocal, small-batch operation that uses excellent California wines as the bases for its aperitifs. Here it’s married to Italian Taggiasca gin and Manzanilla sherry for a Tuscan work of art. Order one and try David Nayfeld’s braised Trippa alla Fiorentina or the orgasmic gnudi. Then order another. Great night. "
