"I like Avelleneda so much that, in our 4 day Mexico City itinerary, I list it as one of the four main attractions down in Coyoacán, a list that includes Casa Azul, Mercado de Coyoacán, and the twin plazas at the heart of the neighborhood."

"Avellaneda is a coffee oasis in Coyoacan. Despite the small space, standards are high and good Mexican coffee is on show (the café works directly with their producers). Roasted in small batches, the coffees on offer change each week. A variety of espresso and brewed options are available, but we suggest the manual brewing: owner Carlos de la Torre is the two-time Mexican Brewer’s Cup Champion. If you find yourself in the southern suburb of Coyoacan with a need for a good cup of coffee, get yourself over to Cafe Avellaneda. Their lattes are rich and flavorful and always served with a yummy little sweet biscuit. The baristas are friendly and I like to come here when I’m by myself because it’s usually very quiet. It’s a tiny cafe with only four or five seats, which is why it’s usually so quiet. Most people go there and get a coffee-to-go. If I’m with a friend, we usually grab a coffee and head to the nearby park to sit and enjoy it there."

"Très bon café dans un quartier bohème jeune, petit parc au coin de la rue."

"The sheer size of Mexico City can be somewhat daunting but if you have enough time on your hands, you should head out to Coyoacán no matter what. That is where you will find beautiful colourful low-rise buildings, Frida Kahlo’s house, a lovely zócalo and this cosy café that is always brimming with locals and visitors alike."
