"L'ancien Miami Art Museum a déménagé le 4 décembre 2013 dans ce tout nouveau musée ultra-design installé sur la baie. Une jolie promenade aménagée permet d'ailleurs d'avoir une vue imprenable sur les gratte-ciel de Downtown (sortez les appareils photo !). Cette construction s'inscrit directement dans la politique d'urbanisation de la ville qui vise à dynamiser le quartier de Downtown. Le musée a été rebaptisé " The Pérez Art Museum Miami " (du nom de Jorge M. Pérez, grand collectionneur d'art latino-américain qui a financé le projet à hauteur de 35 millions de dollars, d'où l'hommage qui lui est rendu à travers le nom du musée) ou PAMM. Il forme un superbe ensemble design, créé par les célèbres architectes suisses Herzog & de Meuron, avec un bel espace vert et une agréable cafétéria face à la baie. Le musée est superbe avec des collections permanentes qui reflètent l'esprit artistique bouillonnant de Miami d'où les nombreux noms de l'art contemporain de la ville qui y sont exposés... Mais le musée compte aussi des oeuvres de toute l'Amérique latine et de la Caraïbe à l'image du melting pot culturel de la ville. Certaines sont bien critiques à l'égard du modèle culturel américain ; le Bart Simpson en terracotta (à voir !), oeuvre d'une artiste colombienne, tend justement à dénoncer la globalisation culturelle induite par le modèle US. Quant aux expositions temporaires, elles sont généralement tout aussi engagées. Bien sûr, ce musée sublime a un prix... Le coût total des travaux est estimé à 220 millions de dollars !"
