"From Capo Sandalo to Cala Vinagra, creek after creek along a spectacular coastline On the island of San Pietro, the landscape is royal. Capo Sandalo, Italy’s westernmost point, offers the spectacular Isolotto del Corno, instantly recognisable by its pyramid shape. Nearby, sheer cliffs of trachyte, a volcanic rock, rise above the sea, with the call of Audouin’s gulls echoing against the rock. From here, you come to Cala Fico, a tiny rocky bay that might be a little harder to reach: a 450-metre descent through the scrubland leads to this beach, where Eleonora’s falcons nest at the end of the channel. Heading north, Punta delle Oche opens onto a red-tinged rock face with a sea cave accessible by boat. Further on, Cala Vinagra, a discreet cove with deep waters, is a playground for divers and snorkellers."
