"Baker Beach is a local San Francisco favorite, especially on warm days—which are rare. The soft sand, Pacific Ocean sounds, and views make it a worthwhile visit even on foggy days. The sand is soft and relatively free of debris—the surf, however, is no joke, and the currents and riptides here are fierce, so it's recommended that visitors stay on dry land. In the early morning you'll often find dog walkers or yogis doing their best poses. San Francisco weather is cool, especially on the beach, so dress in layers. Picnicking is allowed (just be sure to pick up after yourself and leave no trace), and hikers should check out the north end of Baker Beach where the Sand Ladder connects to the California Coastal Trail and the Batteries to Bluffs Trail. There are seven wheelchair-accessible parking spaces at the north Baker Beach parking lot, and the beach access point provides an entry ramp that's approximately 5% in grade.
