"A Swede by the name of Magnus Petterson is pumping out smørrebørd and it’s apparently unreal. A must drink pairing is the browned butter aquavit, don’t gotta tell me twice "

@jonnymo

"Selma - It might actually be illegal to leave the Danish capital without having smorrebrod. Selma doesn't prepare them according to traditional style; instead, chef-owner Magnus Pettersson treats his sandwiches like proper dishes worthy of modern expressions. The toppings are often seasonal and beautifully presented, like the dark red beetroot and horseradish herring smortebrod adorned with tiny boat-shaped onion slivers, or another topped with a breathtaking tower of shrimp and flowers. Alongside, there's a wide selection of craft beers and house-infused akvavit ("snaps" in Danish)."

"Smorrebrod that is a bit more adventurous with some twists; likely can be GF"

@buebs

"Smorrebrod is a traditional Danish open sandwich served on dark sourdough rye — and at Selma in Indre By they’ve turned it into an art form, notable as much for the colour as the flavour of the food. Herring is traditional but sometimes here tends to overpower the other ingredients, but grilled celeriac is, by contrast, a delicate treat (smorrebrod from £15; selmacopenhagen.dk)."

@nataliaflr

"The battle among the most renowned Copenhagen restaurants to be seen as the best smørrebrød spot in town is, as you might imagine, immense but Selma is a top tip among the locals. The concept seems simple: take one of the nation’s much-loved traditional dishes and elevate it to Michelin Bib Gourmand levels (they achieved this in 2019) using seasonal ingredients and a touch of ‘does that really go with that?’ The blackcurrant herring with crème fraîche, red pearl onions and buckwheat do, and you’ll have to try it yourself to taste how. If you’re feeling brave, the chefs offer curated menus where five to seven servings are up for sampling. The warm mustard walls and multi-coloured seating are welcoming and unpretentious; the simple interior gives the food a starring role."

@stlb2205

"Bib gourmand. Smorrebrod. To date, it’s the only smørrebrød restaurant in Copenhagen to enjoy this accolade and is known as one of the best lunch spots in the city."
