"Restaurateurs (and brothers) Sam and Eddie Hart were among the first to bring a tapas-centric menu to London. Their tiny Barrafina, which has three outposts, only offers seating at the bar, and since they don't offer reservations you'll want to get there on the early side. The menu is old-school when it comes to tapas, so we recommend classic favorites like the traditional Spanish tortilla or the chorizo with potato and watercress. The original has now moved a few steps away and into Quo Vadis, the private club that the Harts also own, while there are also two other locations on Adelaide Street and Drury Lane."

"Early on, when dating my Spanish now-husband, I asked where the best Spanish food was in London. He answered without skipping a beat: Barrafina. The original branch, on Dean Street in Soho, has one Michelin star, but there is nothing pretentious or stuffy about it. It’s walk-in only, and I recommend sitting at the bar so you can watch the chefs expertly fileting fish, marinating, chopping, and plating. The banderillas (a delicious skewer of quail egg, green olives, roasted red bell peppers, and Spanish chili peppers) are an excellent choice, as are the buñuelos de bacalao (crispy fritters filled with a melty cod center served with a smoked paprika-dusted aioli) and gambas rojas — the sweetest, most perfectly cooked prawns I’ve eaten. Wash everything down with a beautifully crisp manzanilla pasada en rama sherry. For dessert, try a light almond Santiago tart and a crema catalana, generously portioned and perfect flavor-wise."

"On Dean St. in Soho, across from one of the OG Soho Houses, this is a Spanish tapas spot that is literally one long counter / bar wrapping around an open kitchen concept. Fire Spanish tapas here. They don’t take reservations, you basically wait in line until spots open up at the counter but while you are in line they will serve you alcohol and appetizers so overall great experience."

It serves a traditional but contemporary, regional a la carte menu and there is a daily blackboard of specials, created by Executive Head Chef, Barragan Mohacho. Barrafina operates a first come first serve queuing system, and does not take reservations for their 23 stools. However, part of the fun of dining there is eating little bites and sipping on something delicious while making the line. The kitchen is open and guests are close to all the action and drama while their food is prepared."
