"It doesn’t take bookings, doesn’t pretend to care how your day was, and has the thing that matters most: conversation-cancelling food. Things like silence, addiction, and obsession are often seen as negative characteristics, but after a bowl of Xi’an Impression’s signature liangpi cold noodles you’ll understand that this is a misrepresentation. There are few better things than having your thoughts dominated by a bowl of chewy noodles and gluggable chilli oil, and much of the Xi’anese menu is full of dishes like this"

"Cold liangpi noodles, beef biang biang noodles in chilli, boneless chicken in ginger sauce, pork burger Didn’t acc love it - maybe just don’t love biang biang noodles - very oily - dumplings were fine but sauce was very good "

"Wei Guirong’s original joint venture, Xi’an Impression by the Emirates Stadium in Highbury, is a tiny caff-like restaurant which has rightly earned cult status among lovers of regional Chinese food. As at Guirong’s solo restaurant, Master Wei, the focus is on the region’s flour-foods, mianshi: peerless biang biang noodle dishes, with vegetables or beef and hot chilli oil; fine liang pi, cold skin noodles with a refreshing, umami-rich dressing, and the chef’s inimitable burgers with a cumin-spiced beef or pork filling. "4/5: tomato egg biang biang noodles, pork murger, tofu skin. The pork murger was honestly on par with what I had in Xi’an and the tofu skin had a nice pea nutty/sesame sauce. The noodles were a bit cold / congealed when I got them but still quite tasty so I can only imagine what they’re like if I got them hot in the restaurant :)"
