"Nigella (Insta) - 10 January 2025 - The restaurants I've posted about so far from my trip to Rome last weekend were all visited on the strength of recommendations from actual Romans. This one's the result of lazy luck. By the time it had got to dinner, having spent a magnificent day's walking through Rome, and an exquisite few hours at the sumptuous @barberinicorsini, I had little leg-power left, so waddled over on spec to @cantinapierazzuoli which was gratifyingly near to where I was staying. It turned out to be a lovely neighbourhood restaurant, and one fortunately open on Sunday night. I fell gratefully upon the gorgeous pasta alla Gricia - put simply, think eggless carbonara, or amatriciana without tomatoes - which came after some beautiful pata negra ham, served with tomato-kissed fingers of focaccia, the perfect artichoke alla Romana, plus more of their warm, thin, crackly focaccia (pic 3). You really could do some serious drinking here - their wine list encourages it - but modesty prevailed, with just a bottle of young, lively and aromatic @jermann_wine Chardonnay. I wish I'd taken a photo of the menu which is presented in a baroque gold frame!"
