"From Mar 2020 blog: Best pubs in Cork (live music, Irish ale, and great food. This is one of the biggest pubs in Cork, that where you will often find live music events, from jazz to rock. They have an open area and two other big rooms inside, so you get to see several different locations in the same night. Even when there are live gigs admission is free and they serve fresh pints of IPA beer from local Rising Sons brewery (see below). People watching at The Crane Lane Theatre is one of our favorite pastimes! From Jan 2022 blog: The Crane Lane Theatre is one of the most iconic bars in Cork City. Located on a laneway between South Mall and Oliver Plunkett Street, it was originally a gentleman’s club way back in the 1920s and still retains a vintage feel throughout. There are three bars inside serving craft beers as well as spirits. With a variety of music playing every night of the week, the Crane Lane will not disappoint for a lively night out. It’s worth noting that, as this is one of the more popular of the many Cork City pubs, it gets busy, so try and nip in early. From Oct 2017 blog: One of the best venues for live music and a lively night out, the Crane Lane Theatre is a popular institution in Cork city. Located down a laneway between the South Mall and Oliver Plunkett Street, just around the corner from the General Post Office, the Crane Lane was once a gentleman’s club during the 1920s. It was popular then, and it maintains that reputation to this day. The venue’s decor reflects its history, with a vintage vibe flowing through the bar and outdoor area. There are three bars inside, and the venue is one of the latest to stay open in Cork. Pop next door to its sister pub Arthur Maynes Pharmacy for a smooth glass of wine and an electric atmosphere.
