"Pepi Gramshammer was talented ski racer who was born in Austria. He was lured to Vail by early local developers who wanted to put their new ski town on the map. He moved to Vail and met his wife Sheika, a model and dancer also from Austria, and they soon married. Together, they opened the Gasthof Gramshammer Hotel in 1964. Over the years, it has remained popular and has hosted thousands of visitors including many celebrities."
