"The Viña VIK winery is a short drive downhill from its sister hotel, VIK Chile. The winery, which was just named “The World’s Best Vineyard” by the World’s 50 Best guide, is located in a very special area of the Millahue Valley, and it makes the most of its unique locale from soil to bottle. This is a winery that is all about showcasing the unique terroir of Chile, from using barrels made of centuries-old oak trees found in the property’s forest to the clay vessels used to age wine made of VIK soil. The most unique bottle in the VIK collection is Stonevik, made of a combination of the best cabernet Franc, cabernet sauvignon and carménère grapes on the estate. The winery also stands out for its art collection, particularly its striking water mirror installation, which creates an immediate “wow” effect when you arrive at the winery. Art shows up everywhere at anything VIK, including on the wine bottles. La Piu Belle is a favorite; its label was taken from the Chilean artist Gonzalo Cienfuegos’s painting La Piu Belle, and the bottle itself feels like a collector’s item. Indagare Tip: Don’t miss dining at Pavilion, a restaurant located right at the winery, before or after your tasting. Pavilion serves a contemporary Chilean menu integrating many ingredients from the gardens on the estate."
