Che Fico : restaurant italien à San Francisco depuis 2018

"budino al cioccolato ($14) at Che Fico is anything but an afterthought. It’s been on the menu since Che Fico opened in 2018, and it was called out as a reason the restaurant landed on Bon Appétit’s list of best new restaurants that year. Sure, it’s probably been poured into the cut crystal stemware ahead of time, but the rich, bittersweet chocolate custard, garnished with candied hazelnuts, olive oil and flaky sea salt, is best in class. Housemade ice creams are also excellent, as are seasonal fruit crostatas."

"If you’ve got an appreciation for wood-fired pizzas, fresh pastas, and live plants then dinner at Che Fice isn’t an option, it’s a must. The Divisidero Street Italian restaurant is stunning from top to bottom: vining plants dangle from the rafters, photo-worthy floral wallpaper abounds, and the menu showcases playful hand-drawn art. The seasonal Italian fare includes must-order dishes such as fried risotto called suppli, house-made salumi, and the banana-topped Ananas pizza. Pastas range from Bolognese tagliatelle to meaty lasagna, with sharable secondi such as a whole rockfish and wood-oven roasted lamb loin to fill out the meal. Don’t skip a crostada or some fior de latte gelato for dessert. "

"Che Fico, San Fransisco West coast pizza pioneers tempt purists with the ultimate cheesy crust From dough to toppings, pizza can be a divisive topic in the USA. Adherents usually fall into one of two camps (New York thin-base vs Chicago deep-dish), so imagine the collective surprise when a small taverna in San Francisco proposed a whole new type: a distinctively wide crust – at least an inch all around – roasted at a low temperature, with a charred finish, then sprinkled generously with Parmesan. Che Fico’s pizzas are visually thrilling, but the use of local Californian produce is what really hits the mark: the changing menu may involve pizza with mortadella, ricotta, pistachio and avocado-blossom honey, or piquant pineapple, red onion and fermented chilli. Ex-Eleven Madison Park chef David Nayfeld’s menu has been an instant success. Since opening, the same team have launched Theorita downstairs, an old-school diner where the pie obsession is sweet rather than savoury. Social-media attention from early fans including Gwyneth Paltrow ensured that, seemingly overnight, Che Fico became the hardest reservation to get in the entire country. By Todd Plummer "

"Outstanding food and great ambiance"

"Che Fico is everything you want in a restaurant. Beautifully designed. Strong branding. Thoughtful cuisine. What really struck out to me were my fellow patrons. Young, attractive and well dressed, split amongst large groups of laughing friends or intimate two- person tables presumably on date night. Food was classic yet inventive. Perfectly portioned. Great cocktails. I want to get into the pizza menu at a later point as we were totally fixated on the pasta. For now, 8.8/10"

"Super expensive and not good"

"Went w Lido. Loved it. Super beautiful. Long wait but go at 5pm and stand in line for the 46 counter seats. Res waaaayyy in advance. Creative Italian. If you’ve ever wanted to twirl around tagliatelle al ragu with 60-month-aged parmigiano reggiano on your fork while eating somewhere that feels like an Italian version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, get to Che Fico. The colorful dining room at this NoPa restaurant has skylights, mismatched floor tiles, fig-patterned wallpaper, and cured meats hanging from the ceiling—stimulus overload that somehow just works. And it doesn’t distract from the super flavorful tagliatelle al ragú, which is always cooked flawlessly. Absolutely sop up every last bit of the bolognese with their excellent house focaccia."

"Phil Deutch Che fico (“what a fig”) is Italian slang for “How cool!”, an apt description of this airy, stylish space, where tables are still a hot commodity all week long. Those who don’t manage to snag a reservation may find a perch at the bar, where an impressive array of compelling cocktails features unique flavorings like green walnut or basil eau de vie. The vibe is chic, but the cooking leans rustic; start with house-made salumi or mozzarella, then proceed to hearty pastas like saffron spaghetti with 'nduja, or pizzas with puffy, blistered crusts (try the pineapple, red onion and fermented chili number). A wood-fired oven features heavily, from vegetables like charred broccolini with pecorino sardo and Calabrian chili, to whole-roasted branzino."
