"$$$ Sushi Sho's pebble-lined entrance, cool tones, and paper-covered screens remind us of a tea ceremony room, as does the calm feeling that washes over us as we cross the threshold. The 30-dish tasting menu is a series of otsumami small plates interspersed with sashimi and nigiri courses. Chef Nakazawa is no longer behind the counter, but the quality of the food hasn't wavered. The rotating selection of sake is one of the best around, thoughtfully chosen to pair with the day's seafood. // Tell us about your first impressions when you arrived. Sushi Sho's pebble-lined entrance, cool tones, and paper-covered screens remind us of a tea ceremony room, as does the calm feeling that washes over us as we cross the threshold. There are 11 spots at the three-sided counter, plus a private room with tatami seating for three near the door. The vibe is elegant and convivial. There's no need to whisper, but you'll want to use your indoor voice. What was the crowd like? It's a crowd of food lovers and devoted fans of owner Keiji Nakazawa's other restaurants (Sushi Sho Masa, Takumi Shingo, Sushi Sho Saito). What should we be drinking? Go for the sake. Sushi Sho has one of the best rotating selections, thoughtfully chosen to pair with the day's seafood. Main event: the food. Give us the lowdownâespecially what not to miss. The 30-dish tasting menu is a series of otsumami small plates interspersed with sashimi and nigiri courses. Nakazawa is no longer behind the counter, but the quality of the food hasn't wavered. You'll find classic Sushi Sho signatures like rice-stuffed octopus, fatty tuna aged in vacuum-packed cold storage for 10 days, and the hauntingly delicious pickled melon and monkfish liver."
