"Best for: a taste of theatrics A trip to London often includes browsing Selfridges, which is why its Brasserie of Light restaurant is such a popular weekend afternoon destination. Where better to indulge in finger sandwiches and cakes? The Pegasus afternoon tea is perhaps one of the most beautiful to look at; it’s served on a platform staging a flying horse – mimicking the restaurant’s giant overhead installation – and covered in dry ice for extra drama. The food itself is an unusual offering, but delicious nonetheless. Savoury dishes include a lobster, mango and avocado salad and red-pepper and feta puffs, followed by chocolate mousse and a golden apple – a sort of cinnamon apple doughnut covered in gold. Themed Light It Up cocktails are also available to order on top of tea or coffee. One warning: you’ll need to order scones, cream and jam separately if you want to stick to tradition. Abigail Malbon"
