"The 40-room countryside refuge and members club INNESS sits on 90 hectares (225 acres) of pastoral land in the Catskills, just a 90-minute drive from New York City. Of the hotel's rooms, 28 exist as cabins within the grounds. The remaining 12 rooms occupy space in the Farmhouse, which is also home to a restaurant and lounge. Additional features, besides numerous hiking trails, include an events barn, the Farm Shop, and a 1.2-hectare (3-acre) organic farm--all imagined by landscape designer Miranda Brooks using indigenous flora. Responding to the property's ethos-"the juxtaposition of the cultivated and the wild"_INNESS is named after the prominent American landscape painter George Inness. In tribute to the artist, the retreat was conceived by a group of designers and developers, who regularly escape the city to reconnect with the Hudson Valley's bountiful nature. The result is a collection of minimal vernacular buildings designed to blend in with the bucolic landscape. Drawing inspiration from New England's colonial architecture, for example, New York designer Taavo Somer teamed up with Post Company to create cabins with a residential feel. At the center of the property, the organic farm and orchard not only supplies the restaurant but also engages members of the surrounding community through education and events. The restaurant's menu thrives on local produce and further highlights seasonal offerings from the Hudson Valley, including dishes prepared al fresco on the property's outdoor smokers and grills. Beyond providing nourishing food for the local and greater community, the mission of the farm is to offer meaningful hands-on"

"Stayed in February 2022 when they were working out some opening issues. Had a nice time, but would recommend staying in the farmhouse and not the cabin."
