"Combine fancy champagne, cheap beer, fried chicken, and a casual raw bar — all housed in a retrofitted auto body shop — and you get Leon’s Oyster Shop. The menu has plenty of salads, like the iceberg stack covered in buttermilk dressing, for the lunch crowds and soft serve for the kids. The owners put a lot of thought into every detail, so go marvel at the wondrous interiors of the former auto body shop, full of custom art and thrift store finds, in between chargrilled oysters."

"Leon’s Oyster Shop in the West Side sounds like a restaurant idea we came up with at a bar at 2am. They serve fried chicken, hush puppies, char-grilled oysters, and really good salads, alongside draft rosé, frozen G&Ts, and soft serve, all from inside an old garage. However, their mix of highbrow and lowbrow is what makes them one of the busiest restaurants in town. They don’t take reservations for groups under six, so come when they open at 11am, grab a spot on the patio, and make a day out of it."

"Leon's Oyster Shop has been drawing in hungry Charlestonians since it opened its doors in 2014. Its scruffy, whitewashed facade got a 2020 upgrade with the addition of a “filling station-style” covered patio that replaced the umbrellas, so there’s plenty of shade to enjoy that chicken sandwich known all over the South and which has the power to send a vegetarian tumbling off the wagon. The breading uses seafood seasoning, and the tender filet is topped with Duke’s mayo and Asian slaw tossed with fish sauce. Plus, the brioche buns are baked daily and grilled just enough to get that perfect crispy exterior and soft, pillowy interior."

"Leon’s Oyster Shop is one of my favorite places to grab lunch. It’s best to go on a nice day… there’s lots of outdoor seating. Oysters, rosé, and the fried chicken sandwich. You don’t need much else in life."

"Was okkkkkk, but not worth the hype. Fried chick was the best"
