"Camellia is a superb place to try a simple Japanese tea ceremony. It’s located in a beautiful old Japanese house just off Ninen-zaka. The host speaks fluent English and explains the ceremony simply and clearly to the group, while managing to perform an elegant ceremony. The price includes a bowl of matcha and a sweet. The 45-minute ceremonies are held on the hour from 10am to 5pm. Private tea ceremonies are held in a 100- year-old house with lovely gardens close to Ryōan-ji in northwest Kyoto (¥6000 per person)."
