"Michelin Guide mention 2025 Grub Street Best New Restaurant 2024 Chef Soroosh Golbabae Siblings Samaya Boueri Ziade and George Boueri have partnered on their first restaurant, Sawa, which just so happens to mean "together" in Arabic (their family ran the first Japanese restaurant in Lebanon; but also a travel agency). This lively spot lures a crowd: by the time they unlock the doors, the line is already long. Everyone is here for the convivial ambience and the standout Middle Eastern food from Chef Soroosh Golbabae. This is a menu thick with options, with labneh and hummus with wagyu beef cheeks kicking things off before a round of mezze like tabbouleh, fried meat pies, and kibbeh nayeh. Don't miss the rakkakat, or akkawi and halloumi cheese wrapped in filo and fried to a golden crisp. Grilled Australian lamb chop with garlic labneh and a generous coating of urfa bibir is a smoky, savory main dish. Finish with the pistachio mafroukeh."

"When the siblings Samaya Boueri Ziade and George Boueri opened Sawa in April, their aim was to bring the herb-imbued, orange blossom-scented cuisine of their Lebanese childhood to Park Slope, Brooklyn. Their bright and minimalist dining room has since become a beloved neighborhood destination, offering a seasonally inspired menu that mixes regional dishes with Levantine classics, layered with a dash of New York sophistication. This mix is captured perfectly in dishes like summer heirloom tomatoes spread with garlicky toum, a supple lamb shank with freekeh and fava beans, and balloons of homemade pita so puffed and light it almost seems sad to rip them open — until the sumptuous plates of hummus, labneh and muhamarra arrive. "LEBANESE: The restaurant was nice, and ambience was great, but for the price point I much prefer Sofreh and Miss Ada. Portions on the smaller side. The server was nice, they didn’t add a candle to the dessert so she brought out the sorbet. -Hummus was yummy, fresh pita delicious but they charge extra for it -Rakakat (cheese rolls) mozzarella spring rolls. Really yummy! -Ardishawkeh (artichoke) un memorable I guess -Batata Hara Potato -Freekah (mushroom sunchoke grain bowl) it was okay, but underwhelmed and not satisfying. I probably wouldn’t order again. -Osmaliyeh really yummy rose airy fritters"
