"Cantonese. No reservation, long queues?"

@

"First, a warning; this Chinese spot is walk-in only and often has long queues - so it’s best to get there as close as possible to opening times (that's 12pm for lunch, then 6pm for dinner). Once inside, feast like there's no tomorrow on their particularly plump hargau (prawn dumplings) and huge xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) alongside a delicious array of Cantonese classics, including roast duck, beef ho fun (flat noodles) and charred salty green beans with minced pork. Those queues are there for a reason. "

"Dim Sum Duck is a restaurant known for its Cantonese cooking and particularly for its dim sum and roast duck. The dishes are served in a traditional Asian dining atmosphere, with a menu that includes classic dim sum, noodles, rice, congee, and vegetable sides. Please note, due to its popularity, the restaurant often has a queue, but the wait is considered worthwhile for the quality and portion sizes of the meals."

"What’s the deal? Believe the hype – and brave the epic lines. The queues stretch out of the door nightly for this King’s Cross Cantonese restaurant, but once inside it’s a vibey spot full of in-the-know London diners. Why go? For their particularly plump prawn dumplings, and huge xiaolongbao soup dumplings, alongside a whole host of Cantonese classics, including roast duck and beef ho fun. Order this Get the razor clams. They’re served with generous portions of garlic and vermicelli noodles in a umami saucy broth."

It's run by a dim sum chef with more than 30 years in the business and specialises in hand-made dim sum and in-house roasted duck. Critic Fay Maschler said it was the best Cantonese cooking in London."

"Not vibey and quite hard to get in but good value I think. Weekday dinners 8-9pm best time or Sundays at 11 if you wait a bit. Via Soniashangrydiary"

@polly.jacobs6

"Not really a secret spot, but I wanted to revisit since my last visit from over a year ago & nothing has changed - @dimsumandduck is still the best 🫣 We arrived at 11:30am on a Sunday thinking we could get in for their first seating at 12, but we found out they actually open at 11:30 on Sundays, and ended up waiting an hour before we got seated. We asked their manager and he said the best times to come were: Mon-Thurs 2-3pm & weekday dinners at 8-9pm! If you’re willing to wait a bit, come at 11 on Sunday and you’ll most likely get a seat as well. Everything was so delicious, my favourites would definitely be their shrimp dimsum’s, especially the beancurd skin prawn roll 🤤 MUST ORDER!! Restaurant is small & cozy, staff were so nice, pricing is very reasonable!! Revisit? 100% Price? Under £20pp Rating? 5/5"

"However, I was fully converted by Dim Sum Duck’s particularly plump hargau (prawn dumplings) and huge xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) alongside a delicious array of Cantonese classics, including roast duck, beef ho fun (flat noodles) and charred salty green beans with minced pork. Come for the food, but stay for hilarious restaurant manager Alec, whose dry wit will keep you entertained all evening. Just a warning; the place is walk-in only and often has long queues - so it’s best to get there as close as possible to opening times (that's 12pm for lunch, then 6pm for dinner). Time Out tip Get the razor clams. They’re served under generous portions of garlic and vermicelli noodles in a umami saucy broth."

"There has never been any point beating around the bush with Dimsum and Duck: it’s the best all-round Cantonese we’ve eaten in London. The dumplings, from xiaolongbao to cheung fun, are superb. A trio of delicate glass wrapper prawn and chive dumplings and a foursome of bathing pork balls have taken permanent residence in a very important part of our brain: the part that looks like a merry-go-round and has different delicious foods manically turning 24/7. Other things are brilliant too, including but not limited to the beef ho fun, the warm service, the morning glory in preserved bean curd with a whack of garlic, and the fact that due to now excessive popularity, the only good time to go here is for a midweek lunch. Because who doesn’t want to brainstorm over xiaolongbao?"

"Seemagetbakes favourite restaurant !"

"Sakt pepper squid: tender, good even though not necessarily my thing Prawn dim sum: not fav, too much prawn. And not fan of the dumpling texture, too gouwy Shaghai pork dumplings : delicious soupy dumplings !! Porc with fried crispy noodle: not great, too much noodle with sticky sauce. And not a fan of these raw ramen-style noodles. And not enough vegetables nor chicken. Or was it pork? Tasted like chicken. Mushrooms were great though, very interesting texture Steamed cheung fun bean curd skin: besttt! Very gouwy but good kind of gouwy and crispy bc of the skin. With prawns. Kind of tasted like prawn tempura sushi, as you also add soya sauce on it. I had saved it on Google maps because we had driven by it and there was a line up lol I am such a follower. We went on Friday at 8 p.m. and there was just a 10 minutes wait. Went with Tim and Celina. Crispy duck with the pancake, sauce, cucumber. Good but duck too crispy. Pecking hong kong style duck in that brown sauce: really good. "
