Oslo’s Natural History Museum invites you to explore the diversity of nature in the Botanical Garden and exhibitions on zoology, geology and climate changes. The museum owns Norway's largest collection of natural objects, many of which are made available to the public. Exhibitions Visit Norway's largest natural history museum - explore the Botanical Garden and exhibitions on zoology, geology and the climate. In the zoological exhibitions you will meet taxidermic animals from all over the world. The animals are placed in true to life natural environments, such as a bird mountain or a beaver pond. You get a glimpse of the Arctic wildlife, penguins in Antarctica, chimpanzees and okapi in African rainforests, and much more. The new geological exhibitions about the earth's history and the evolution of life opened to the public in 2022. Here you will find six new permanent exhibitions across four floors after several years of total rehabilitation. An entire house filled with fossils and crystals, objects you can't see anywhere else. Large gems, meteorites, dinosaurs, gold nuggets and an entire crystal cave are some of the things the new exhibitions offer. Klimahuset is the first exhibition in the Nordic region to address the climate and climate change. In the interactive exhibition, you learn about how the climate works, different future scenarios and the solutions that already exists. Here you will also be inspired to take action! The Botanical Garden was founded in 1814. Here you will find over 5,000 plant species used in teaching, dissemination and research. As a green lung in the big city, the Botanical Garden is also an important recreational area for both the local population as well as visitors. Here you can experience plants from all over the world with departments such as the mountain garden, the fragrance garden and the sensory garden “Oldemors hage”. Museum shop and café The Natural History Museum’s extensive museum shop offers great gifts and souvenirs, such as real fossils, beautiful minerals, models of animals, gardening tools, posters, books and much more. The café on site serves good coffee, cold beverages, lunch dishes made from scratch and tasty cakes and pastries, focusing on local and ecological ingredients.
