"Certain restaurants make you feel like you’ve made the right decision as soon as you walk in the door – and manteca is one of them. It’s always busy, always full of life and always run with a calm confidence that allows everyone to relax. The Italian menu is also something that’ll always excite; its dishes are designed for sharing and every one of them comes with flavour turned up to the max, whether it’s the whole wood-roasted John Dory, the ’nduja steamed mussels, or the malloreddus with pork and fennel ragu. Be sure to check out their in-house pasta workshop and their salumeria."

"After pop-ups in Mayfair and Soho, this bright, buzzy Italian restaurant has a permanent home. Here they follow a maximum sustainability, minimum waste ethos, from seeking out local suppliers to using a nose-to-tail approach; with everything made in-house. The appealing menus are designed to encourage sharing."

"This is at the moment my favorite Italian place in London. It’s very tuscan and explores meat as an intrinsic part of the Italian cuisine, which it definitely is, but just not worldly recognized as other staples like pasta. It is also very innovative but you can track with every bite how tradition remains in the DNA of every dish. The menu changes on a weekly basis depending on ingredients availability so you can find completely different items from one week to the next, or the same dish with slight variations. But quality remains and service is king. The local is super minimalistic and the kitchen is open. I really haven’t tried a dish I didn’t like and boy believe me when I tell you that I’ve tried most of the items in the menu. You’ll see pictured: 1) Duck ragu fazzoletti🔥 2) Porchetta with salsa verde🔥 3) Brown crab Cacio e pepe 4) Beef battuta, egg yolk dressing, dandelion 5) Rigattoni, kale sauce and chilli🔥 6) N’duja steamed mussels, cream and parsley 7) Duck liver parfait + date jam🔥 8) Fried olive, noccellara, pork and veal sausage 9) Beef shin ragú strozzapreti🔥 10) Blood orange winter citrus with burn meringue Apart from this don’t miss the pork skin ragú (if you can find it), the chocolate and olive oil tart, the pig head fritti and the wild mushroom ragú. The absolute stars are the duck ragú fazzoletti and the beef shin ragú strozzapreti, they are never together in the same menu but I’ve tried both in different days and they’re literally fireworks. I really can’t recommend you enough to visit @manteca_london 🙌🏼"

"Okayish.. over seasoned pasta :/ asked for focaccia they brought sourdough with few (2 leaves) of Rosmary (well at least something authentic). Italian will get offended for sure, even I’ve got mhm… nice ricotta with figs and nuts, however proportions are not great. 3 slices of figs and 2 spoons of ricotta, oh well.. "

@tclamagirand
"What’s the deal? David Carter and Chris Leach’s long-underrated, itinerant Anglo-Italian went permanent in Shoreditch at the end of 2021. The excellent menu skews both refined and rugged: what fool wouldn’t want to follow brown crab cacio e pepe with a stuffed pig’s snout? Price ££ Order this The pig skin ragù – devised to reduce waste in the kitchen, buried under a blizzard of parmesan and crowned with cloud-light pork crackling."
