"What’s the most relevant restaurant in NYC? The answer is easy: it’s Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi. The food at Tatiana is unlike the food you can get anywhere else in the city. Add to it the backdrop of Lincoln Center and the rave reviews (Pete Wells, before retiring, named in the #1 restaurant in New York in his 100 Best list.) It’s impossible to get into, but I have a hack for you: go at 4:30 PM during the week and line up with the other hopefuls outside. Chances are you’ll get a table. It happened to me and my friend Josh! And we ate like kings. Or queens, as the case may be."

"I cannot believe I have been here but I can understand how it got ranked the best restaurant in nyc- it opens around 5, ben and i lined up at 5:15 and were told to come back at 7:15- it was amazing. Got seated at the bar w comfy seats, they made ben a last word, we split 4 dishes plus dessert ( couldn’t finish the last bigger plate) - the goat cheese empanada like patties, the crab and oxtail rangoons, the oxtail stew, and the short rib which game w cabbage and bread. All devine. The dessert was a homemade cosmic brownie and donut ice cream- “the bodega special” - it was all absolutely delicious "

"Tatiana in NYC single-handedly made Lincoln Center cool again. The space feels like a quiet nightclub washed in blue lightning, and you might find yourself seated next to someone who looks like they just filmed a viral GRWM TikTok in their well-lit studio apartment. To secure a spot for these Afro-Carribean re-imaginations of classic New York dishes like wagyu chopped cheese and egusi dumplings, you’ll need to log onto Resy four weeks in advance at 12pm. If you don’t have the clicking speed of a professional e-sports athlete, there’s also a six-seat bar and 12 outdoor tables that are saved for walk-ins."

"Recognitions and Awards: • Michelin Guide mention 2025 • 1st on The Infatuation Top 25 2025 • One to Watch Award 2023 ⚠️ Arrive at 3pm ahead of their 5pm opening to be sure to get a coveted first-come-first-serve bar seat. (The patio is also first come first serve.) Lincoln Center sits on land that was once known as San Juan Hill, a predominantly working-class, Black and Brown neighbourhood that was razed in the 1950s to make way for the performing arts building. Inside it, Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi seeks to resurrect a little of its former vibrancy and community through a bold, eclectic menu, a hip-hop playlist and a modern, city-influenced decor. It’s an homage to chef Kwame Onwuachi’s childhood and to an overlooked community that shaped part of the fabric of the city – and it’s the hottest thing in New York City right now. Named after Onwuachi’s older sister, who helped care for him while their mother worked as a chef, Tatiana is inspired by the foods and flavours of his upbringing in the Bronx, as well as his father’s Nigerian roots and other Afro-Caribbean and global flavours. The menu is divided into small sharing dishes – like crispy okra with honey and mustard, or the Nigerian-influenced egusi dumplings – and larger sharing plates such as shawarma-roasted chicken with turmeric lamb rice, and head-on shrimp with creole butter and brioche. Every bite conjures a different memory or aspect of culture, not least the decadent cosmic brownie with powdered donut ice cream, inspired by the bodegas of New York. Tatiana is Onwuachi’s New York debut, but the chef is already well-established, having worked in restaurants including Eleven Madison Park and Per Se before overseeing the critically acclaimed Kith/Kin in Washington DC and appearing on Top Chef. His 2019 memoir, Notes from a Young Black Chef, charted his childhood and early career, and was followed in 2022 by a cookbook, My America: Recipes from a Young Black Chef. At Tatiana, within the revamped David Geffen Hall, he has put together a stellar team that includes chef de cuisine Kamat Newman, general manager Bradley Knebel and complex director Mouhamadou Diop, as well as talented wine and cocktail consultants Amy Racine and Don Lee, respectively. Onwuachi is also no stranger to awards: in 2019 he was named Rising Star Chef of the Year by the James Beard Foundation and was recognised by Food & Wine magazine in their Best New Chef category, but it’s his restaurant that now wins the Resy One To Watch Award 2023 within six months of opening. It signals the arrival of an establishment that is sure to leave a mark in New York’s, and the world’s, ever-evolving hospitality scene."

"NYT Best Restaurants 2023 (Pete Wells) « There’s a lot to say about Tatiana. Kwame Onwuachi, the chef, uses his menu to redraw the culinary map of New York. He makes an argument that our West African restaurants and Trinidadian roti shops and sidewalk jerk grills all deserve a bigger part in the story the city tells about itself. From a prime spot in Lincoln Center, Tatiana reminds everybody that the Bronx is important, that bodegas matter. And the place is just fun; it’s a party that starts with rum drinks and keeps going until somebody orders the tribute to the Little Debbie Cosmic Brownie, down to the multicolored sprinkles. But what I probably haven’t stressed strongly enough is how much flavor he builds into things like oxtails and goat curry, how many of the dishes just make you stop and look around the room and wonder how many other people are seeing new galaxies. The cooking may not be the most newsworthy thing about Tatiana, but it is wildly good. »"

"Egusi Dumplings (great), Curried Goat Patties (excellent), Short Rib Pastrami (the best), Pork Belly Pern (excellent). Great Spicy Margarita. Pete Wells' 2024 list of top 100 #1: We needed Tatiana. We needed a kitchen that puts Caribbean and African and Black American cooking, too often kept in the city’s margins, right at center stage. We needed to taste the way Kwame Onwuachi focuses and concentrates the flavors of oxtails, goat curry, chopped cheese and other items without losing sight of their roots. And after quarantines and masks and distancing and sundry social traumas, we needed a party. We needed a reason to get dressed up, to drink rum cocktails with spicy food, to stay out past 9 o’clock, to look around a dining room and see a new, heterogeneous vision of New York and to feel hope for its future."

"Top Chef star, Kwame Onwuachi, who opened two shortlived fine-dining establishments in Washington D.C., returned to his hometown New York City to open his first restaurant here. Tatiana, which debuted in early November, is the crown jewel restaurant inside of the $550 million overhaul at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall. Onwuachi pays homage to his Bronx upbringing, with a menu that includes a crudo-style escovitch and curried goat patties in a high-end dining room with color-changing cloud pendants."

[nyt n•1 best restaurant 2023] / Like a '90s nightclub plopped into the middle of Lincoln Center, Tatiana glows blue and chain-link gold, blasts Lauryn Hill and Biggie, and serves the most exciting food we've tasted at a fancy restaurant, ever. You’ll have just as much fun clocking tracks on the throwback playlist as you will dissecting all the menu’s references to NYC classics, from Afro-Caribbean hot bars to Chinese take-out. You’ll even find a nod to the Cosmic brownies at corner bodegas. We're especially fond of the absurdly tender short rib pastrami suya, served with caraway coco bread, inviting you to build sliders. Tatiana is one of the hardest reservations in town, but for a restaurant that feels like a paradigm shift in New York fine dining, it’s well worth it. Ask about the jello shots. [N°1 too in theinfatuation]"

"Pan African $$ You might only know Kwame Onwuache from his run on Top Chef, but you’re also about to know him for being the guy who single-handedly made Lincoln Center cool again. Tatiana feels like a quiet nightclub and serves food that blends Afro-Caribbean flavors with iconic New York dishes. Think: mizuna caesar salad with Trini green seasoning and Wagyu short rib pastrami suya (the best new pastrami sandwich in the city)."

"I love that two black chefs opened high-profile restaurants recently: Marcus Samuelsson being one, and Kwame Onwuachi the other. His restaurant, Tatiana, at the Lincoln Center, leans towards the more theatrical, which makes sense, given its location. Between sipping cocktails and eating his globally inspired menu, with influences from the Caribbean, west Africa and, more locally, the Italian and Chinese food he ate growing up in the Bronx, you gaze out at the august architecture of the plaza. I had to stop socialising, and devouring the short-rib pastrami suya, to enjoy a moment of gratitude that I live in such a diverse and culturally rich city. "
