"Belle’s has long been the go-to spot for the best bagels in town, and now their lunch sandwiches are just as impressive. The atmosphere is unbeatable, and the new cocktails are a great addition. My top picks? The Westlake or a sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese and lox—absolutely delicious! Yes, there’s a wait on weekends, but that’s just a testament to how good the food is. Everyone wants to be here!"

"Longtime Highland Park bagel shop Belle’s has morphed into a vintage-inspired delicatessen with incredible lighting and throwback banquettes that recall weathered neighborhood East Coast delis. The walls are adorned with old-timey photos, while the hefty plates feature a classic double-lined border. The all-day menu still features bagels and breakfast sandwiches of all stripes before shifting to Reubens and tuna melts. By the evening, after a short break between 3 and 5 p.m., the deli offers cocktails and noshes like mushroom schnitzel, fried pickles, and scallion latkes. It’s a fantastic upgrade for Highland Park denizens who want another evening hangout. — Matthew Kang, lead editor 5022 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042"

"It’s hard to go wrong when it comes to the breakfast sandwiches at Highland Park’s Belle’s Bagels. All three varieties are constructed on one of the shop’s signature bagels in flavors like salt, everything, and poppyseed. Carefully smooshed in between are egg, cheese, and avocado or bacon. Belle’s Bagels, which is currently operating out of the former Côté Est space in Highland Park, makes double-fermented bagels with a yeasty aroma that sets them apart from other bagels in LA. It’s also a big part of the reason why their breakfast sandwiches are so good. If you’re in the mood for a classic breakfast sandwich, we recommend the “BECA,” which comes with eggs, bacon, cheese, and avocado spread. Otherwise, go for the “L.E.O.” This sandwich comes with sauteed lox, pickled fennel, onions, hard scrambled egg, and their house “shalom sauce,” that resembles a garlic herb aioli. The whole thing is salty and briny with a tangy bite courtesy of the shalom sauce. You get to choose your bagel, and for this one, we recommend the salty bagel which brings out the flavor of the sauteed lox even more. "
