"Difficile de croire que Balthazar n'existe que depuis 1997 tant l'ambiance vieille brasserie parisienne " est réussi. Serveurs habillés à l'ancienne, carrelages au sol, lumières tamisées, miroirs aux murs, etc. L'endroit est spécialisé dans les fruits de mer, vous y trouverez d'ailleurs un excellent bar à huîtres (entre 60 et 90 US$), mais les brunchs ont également fait la réputation du lieu. Balthazar abrite aussi un petit coin salon de thé où l'on peut goûter les délicieuses pâtisseries du jour. Le seul endroit où vous ne serez pas obligé de réserver...Le restaurant a fait l'actualité jusqu'en France en février 2015. C'est ici qu'un miroir accroché au mur s'est effondré sur des clients, et parmi ceux-ci, un certain Arnaud Montebourg... L'ancien ministre, en déplacement aux Etats-Unis pour une conférence, aurait apparemment retenu en partie le miroir, permettant à plusieurs personnes de s'extirper de leur table sans être blessées. Surnommé " The French Socialist Superman " par les tabloïds américains, Arnaud Montebourg a été transporté à l'hôpital Bellevue avec une légère blessure au cou, avant d'en sortir quelques heures plus tard.""

"Keith McNally's flagship restaurant—this is also the master behind such atmospheric Manhattan mainstays as Pastis, the Odeon, Minetta Tavern, and Morandi, each also worth a visit if I may suggest a “Keith McNally crawl”—is a high-ceilinged, brasserie-inspired scene to end all scenes. Martinis are omnipresent at the bar and in deep red-leather booths. So are steak frites smothered in peppercorn sauce. But the asset that's fabulous with the greatest diversity are the patrons—like if that New York magazine cover all convened to share a meal. Alison Roman once told Interview: “The food is so bad, it’s too expensive, I love going there.” She's being facetious for comedic effect—the food is just fine, but it is true that you're really going there to go there. With your expectations duly measured, enjoy an uncomplicated onion soup gratine and some yummy, well-buttered escargot for starters before moving on to the steak frites main event. For dessert, there's nowhere worth going more than the perfect profiteroles, poured with warm chocolate sauce tableside."

Dining here feels like an event, and as such it draws big crowds for its Coq Au Vin, Moules Frites, and burger. We actually like its adjacent bakery best, where you can take perfect croissants, loafs of bread, and coffee to go."
