"9/8/24 came as our first restaurant on group trip with Grace Eddie, Laura, Leon and Evelyn. Restaurant had a cool vibe and a cool part of town. Thai food and plates for sharing. Food was pretty good. We had different types of curries noodle and a few other dishes to share.it was good Thai food for what it was. Portions were pretty small and price was pretty expensive for what it was."

"Huge line in front at 5pm. Looks like the most vibrant place in a goody neighborhood."

"Eem is a restaurant born out of collaboration, an amalgamation of Matt Vicedomini’s smoked meats, Akkapong Earl Ninsom’s curries and salads, and Eric Nelson’s lively drinks. The resulting menu feels like it cohesively shares those voices, with burnt ends simmering in a sweet coconut milk curry and barbecue fried rice combining brisket with shishito peppers. But beyond the menu, Eem feels like a place that treats every employee and customer with respect, a warm spot in a cold city. Visitors can grab a corner spot in the depths of the restaurant, or huddle in one of the restaurant’s cozy outdoor cabanas."

"“The airy and colorful Thai barbecue and cocktail brainchild of Akkapong Earl Ninsom, Eric Nelson, and Matt Vicedomini has been a popular dining destination from the moment it opened. Locals and tourists flock to the restaurant’s outdoor cabanas and buzzing dining room, sipping boozy slushies and shoyu-“spiked” cola while they wait for smoked pork krapao and brisket fried rice. The savory and smoky white curry, with islands of brisket burnt ends, is now a Portland classic, as is the earthy massaman with fall-apart tender smoked lamb shoulder. Eem has also added some of its original hits to the menu, including the dish that started it all: brisket and jungle curry.” -Eater PDX"

"If it had never occurred to anyone to combine the heady flavors of Thai curry and the burned ends of Texas brisket (and their drippings), be very happy that it has now occurred to Earl Ninsom and Matt Vicedomini. The duo, who own Eem with the cocktail virtuoso Eric Nelson, were already renowned individually. Mr. Ninsom’s restaurants Langbaan, Padee and Hat Yai have been central to Portland’s robust Thai-food scene for years. And the prowess of the pit at Mr. Vicedomini’s Matt’s BBQ food truck has been lauded even in Texas. Their flavors together are a revelation. "

"Although brand new to the dining scene, Eem is one of the best Portland restaurants by a landslide. This fusion restaurant combines two beloved food genres which you never knew belonged together: Thai and barbecue. Everything on the menu at Eem is executed so fantastically, and the vibe is completely non-pretentious and enticingly carefree. Always start with the chopped BBQ fried rice, then work your way through curries and Thai BBQ including the white curry with brisket burnt ends (not kidding) and the Massaman curry with smoked lamb shoulder. Grabbing some lunch? The smoked pork belly & holy basil are chock full of flavor and the Eemburger will delightfully surprise you."
