"The Infante Sagres was opened to the public in 1951. Envisioned fully by its creator, entrepreneur and philanthropist Delfim Ferreira, whose goal was to endow the city with a luxury hotel on a par with the finest in Europe. The building is listed on the National Heritage List for England, and contains a wealth of decorative features, such as exquisite ironwork, carved wood detail and magnificent stained glass panels from the workshop of Ricardo Leone. The hotel is named after Prince Henry the Navigator who is remembered as the instigator of the Age of Discovery and the early Portuguese voyages of exploration. The Prince was born in Porto in 1394 to King John I of Portugal and Philippa of Lancaster, sister of Henry IV of England, and later he established a school of navigation in Sagres, and was referred to as the Infante of Sagres. A member of the “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”, the hotel is part of the city’s history, having hosted world-famous guests like the Dalai Lama, the Queen of the Netherlands, Princess Anne and Prince Edward of England, the Kings of Norway and artists such as Bob Dylan. After more than 60 years of service, the hotel underwent a major renovation in 2017 by a team of leading designers and master craftsmen who transformed its heritage interior, elevating it to an unprecedented level of refinement and restoring its wealth of ornate detail. The hotel reopened in 2018, and is continuing its legacy as a luxury hotel."

"Hall princier, escalier à vitraux, salle à manger exquise, mobilier moderne de grand luxe ou authentique doré à l'or fin, sculpté, richement boisé, délicieux petit jardin intérieur, etc. Mais pas de parking (votre chauffeur trouvera sûrement où garer l'automobile dans le quartier). Une vraie galerie d'antiquités et d'art contemporain ! La grande classe impériale, mais c'est vraiment cher (prix intéressants sur Internet !), pour des prestations parfois en dessous de la classe affichée."
