Situated in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, Espace Pailleron is a multi-disciplinary sports complex that not only features a year-round ice rink but also unveils an astonishing swimming pool much to the delight of swimming enthusiasts. Inaugurated in 1933, the Pailleron Pool is named after Edouard Pailleron, a French playwright and poet. The facility caters to individuals of all levels and ages. In addition to its main 33-meter pool, it boasts a playful pool for children with water jets and games, as well as a fitness area and a solarium, perfect for sunbathing on sunny days. One of the most striking features of the Pailleron pool is its architecture that transports us back to the 1930s with its art deco style. Designed by architect Lucien Pollet, it reveals a massive glass roof, supported by a steel structure, allowing ample natural light to flood in. In the entrance hall, one can admire the original ceramic tiles and colorful mosaics. Did you know that the Pailleron Pool was saved from demolition in 1998 by a group of citizens eager to preserve its architectural and cultural heritage? It was subsequently classified as a Historical Monument! Renovated and reopened in 2006, it has retained its old-world charm while offering modern facilities for sports and leisure activities.
