Old Faithful and the Geysers

"Around the space where Old Faithful erupts are benches arranged in a large, accommodating semi-circle. Crowds gather and wait, milling around if there is no room to sit. It reminds me of Easter service. Folks are somber and excited. A collective gasp runs through the crowd as the geyser sputters. Is this the moment? No, the water and steam dies down. She will erupt, she always does, a park ranger promises us. She may be late but she’s never absent. The water works are the orchestra tuning up, the crowd listens in anticipation, their appetite has been waited for the main event. When she erupts the crowd gasps and begins to clap, but soon stops, caught up in the moment."
