Jordana Shani hails from Vancouver, while husband and chef Itamar Shani is from Israel and brings Mediterranean spice and recipes to the kitchen. They started Chickpea first as a food truck in 2016, then opened the restaurant a year later, creating a laid-back atmosphere with bare wood tabletops, colourful murals and cosy nooks equipped with comfy cushions."

"Replenish yourself with more delectable vegan dishes at Chickpea. This restaurant started out as a place where you can grab some authentic hummus mixing chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, and spices. Under chef Itamar Shani, the menu grew abundant with other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours, however. Try their falafel, which may well be the finest falafel you’ll ever have, or perhaps their chickpea fries. Portions are big enough so you can always share. What to order: falafel, chickpea fries "

"The food here was good. Service was kinda shitty and the servers are all 20-something and don't really give a fuck. Go here for the food only. Don't expect good service. Update: I was here again. The service is truly awful. Possibly the worst I've ever experienced. The servers don't check on you at all and basically chat amongst themselves all the time like they're friends on a school break. They all seem to have inflated egos. I honestly hate the vibe here and don't want to come back."

"Cauli of life pita - huge, good but not again. Chikn pita - great texture and taste but kind of spicy. prefer chickebab Schnitzelwaffle - yum!! (have had it twice now) c/pea chips amazing. Have had a couple of times after and only ok, try in restaurant one more time and then no more if average. Choc espresso good but try something else chickebab pita - delicious and with beyond so tastes so much like meat and kofta/kebab. Don't forget to ask for no onions Shawarma- had as a platter - enough for 2 meals. Didn't love on its own but yum in pita and hummus. Try something else. Ok but it was delicious the next day in a tortilla wrap... "
