"Bib Gourmand 2024 Brought to you by Jason Vincent, this fabulous and friendly restaurant is the epitome of Chicago. Its menu is a listing of familiar dishes (think onion rings, crab salad and baby back ribs), albeit drummed up with unique accents reflecting the chef's distinctive style. The petite space is simple and lovely, with a modern-rustic décor and genuinely cozy neighborhood vibe. A chef's counter in the back offers an up-close-and-personal kitchen experience. Kick things off with the excellent Jonah crab salad, served with soft waffle-cut potato fritters and freshly made cocktail sauce. Then move on to the "pici with chew," where thick strands of noodles are cooked to a conservative al dente, and tossed with smoky bacon, chopped jalapeños and breadcrumbs."

"neighborhood gastropub. Best if you can sit at the chefs counter and watch them cook. If you can’t sit there, maybe skip it"

"Giant $$$ Giant’s long, 44-seat room may seem ironic, given its relative sardine-can proportions to other lauded restaurants, but don’t let its size fool you. Effortlessly minimal and stylish—white-washed brick opposite modern wood-paneling, simple gray and yellow banquets—Giant crackles with energy, as the place is consistently packed. Chef Jason Vincent mans the energetic spot, turning out a menu of 15-20 seemingly disconnected small and medium plates. The common denominator is the chef’s commitment to flavor. There are no trend-chasers here, no theme, and no mission other than to serve high-impact fare."

"One of our favorite spots in Logan Square is Giant. And in the summer you can take advantage of their fenced-in back patio, which you might not realize exists since you can’t see it from the street. Once there, you can pretty much go with anything on the menu - we’ve yet to find something we don’t like. The broccoli and cheese is a must-order, and you’ll also want to try their pastas, like the tagliatelle with crab and uni butter. On the surface, Giant seems like every other new American restaurant we’ve encountered over the past decade—meaning it has a minimalist aesthetic and a seasonal small plates menu that reads like a game of Mad Libs. So why do we take every possible opportunity to tell people to eat here? Because this white-brick-wall-and-wood filled spot manages to make a dish like “broccoli chickpeas mint” a must-order (it has a lot to do with fried garlic and honey) along with every other incredible thing on the menu that includes 45 unmentioned ingredients. The servers are always coolly enthusiastic about whatever they’re serving, and despite the small space you never feel cramped or desperate to get your check."

"Carrots, jalapeño biscuit, scallion pancake, cannolini, tagliatelle, garganelli were all 10/10. Skip the peppers and broccoli. Onion rings were good but heavy and not amazing. "
