"2.9mi Length 639ft Elevation gain Loop One of Queensland's best - and most popular - walks. This grade 3 circuit around Kondalilla Falls is good for the whole family, however there are over 300 stairs so not suitable for everyone. Many will choose to do the loop anti-clockwise so they can take a dip in the swimming holes closer to the finish of their walk, but the hike can be done in either direction. From the car park there are stairs down to an open, grassy picnic area where you can lounge out and enjoy a snack with barbecue facilities and toilets nearby. Then follow the Picnic Creek Circuit down through rainforest to the Falls overlook, descend many stairs into the valley and a great view of the falls from the base. As you continue up back to the overlook you'll come across the rock pools - don't forget bathers to enjoy this beautiful swimming spot! It helps to have a healthy appetite for cold water, too. It's best to arrive early for this beautiful walk as the car park fills up quickly here on weekends and holidays. If you visit after rain the falls will be putting on a show, in dry periods there can be just a slight trickle. All in all, this is a stellar, and relatively easy walk to enjoy the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast hinterland and Kondalilla National Park. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/australia/queensland/kondalilla-falls-and-picnic-creek-circuit Details: follow the Picnic Creek circuit down the escarpment, past rock pools and a lookout with views of Kondalilla Falls. Walk through rainforest to the base of the waterfall and continue back up the ridge. Look for emergent bunya pines with their distinctive symmetrical dome shapes, dense stands of piccabeen palms and intriguing shapes of pink ash, Alphitonia petriei. What goes down must come back up! There are over 300 stairs on the Kondalilla Falls circuit so you need to be reasonably fit. Always allow enough time to finish your walk in daylight hours. Kondalilla Falls is well-known on the Sunshine Coast for its beautiful setting in the heart of Kondalilla Falls National Park, near Montville. The gorgeous swimming hole is popular to swim in, and sits at the top of the 90-metre waterfall. You can also swim right up to and under the small waterfall at the top of it while enjoying the incredible views. Visit in summer to cool off after you've hiked a good 20 minutes from the car park. If you're looking for a longer walk, continue to the bottom of the falls and back up again to complete the 4.6km circuit.
