"Mark Hodgkins. Get the tribal escort from the visitor center to drive you to where you can hike through the hoodoos."

"A volcanic explosion roughly six million years ago gave us this geological marvel: cone-shaped “tent rocks” 40 miles southwest of Santa Fe. The three-mile hike takes you first through an arroyo surrounded by the canyon walls, and a small climb punctuated by juniper trees, before rewarding you with amazing views of the national monument and the surrounding area. Parking is straightforward—there’s a lot at the beginning of the trail ($5) with restrooms and picnic tables. Visit Website"

"It took six or seven million years and a whole bunch of volcanic eruptions to create the 5,000 or so acres of bizarro hoodoos scattered around this diminutive-but-stunning monument. But don’t let its size fool you: Here you can pop around in slot canyons all day, or take a quick 1 to 3- mile loop around the park. Regardless of your perspective—from up high on a ridge or through a curve in a crevice—you’ll see that Mother Nature definitely has a creative sense of humor, crafting boulder caps that appear to be wearing very silly hats. If you can only see one monument in New Mexico—a state overflowing with them—this is the one that will give you a little taste of everything the outdoor paradise has to offer."

"Formations rocheuses verticales surnommées Tent Rocks ou hoodoos. Le Slot Canyon Trail offre une vue spectaculaire à 360º sur les montagnes et sur la vallée du Rio Grande."

"Volcanic eruptions that occurred six to seven million years ago have resulted in hundreds of strange-looking hoodoo spires with boulder caps that look like silly hats. Take it all in with a 1.2-mile loop (about a two-hour trek) or opt for the more ambitious three-mile route with a climb through a slot canyon. Either way, factor in plenty of time to stop for snaps. The destination is a tempting detour between Albuquerque and Santa Fe."

"Cave Trail and Slot Canyon Hike. Awesome, great views, a little crowded but getting there early in the day staves that off."

"Really cool looking hiking trails through slot canyons (narrow passageways between rocks)"
