Scanno

"Scanno: a village on the shores of of the lake Scanno (1,050 m), just a little further down in the valley, is a remarkably photogenic hamlet, with it narrow streets, wrought-iron balconies and goldsmiths’ shops where jewellery with antique motifs is still being carved. Henri Cartier-Bresson saw the truth of it, capturing the elegance of some of its black-suited inhabitants in some famous shots in 1951. Below, the heart-shaped Scanno lake welcomes swimmers and hikers onto its refreshing banks. All around the scenic path, you can see the landscape softly wrapping around the emerald green water like a jewel case. Another gem that has become an emblem of the village."
