"Excellent dinner- particularly the first half. The langoustines with foie filled tortellini, the tuna loin and belly with a dashi sauce and avocado mousse and the bites to start with were superb. The sea bass was good and then the main meat- pork belly- felt a little like the chef had spent himself by then- although the tart tatin with a middle layer of foie gras below the apple was very very interesting. Having said this, the oysters (x2) on the belly felt unnecessary. Perhaps it is a personal thing, but pork belly is a little too over used. Cheese course was great- there is a current movement away from traditional cheese courses to a bite sized delight and this with its truffle and balsamic vinegar in a tart was lovely. Pudding was great, although the final chocolate course was really large! Overall a super dinner and service was excellent."

Chef Victor Garvey was born to a French-Spanish mother and an American father, and spent time working in both Spain and the US. His modern Californian cooking uses first-rate ingredients and the well-balanced dishes are characterised by deep, bold flavours and punchy sauces. A great deal of thought goes into the eye-catching presentation, and playful touches add an extra element; if you pick the lobster, it can be flambéed at your table. A great selection of Californian wines and knowledgeable service from a well-versed team complete the experience."
