"I think of Zooba as an upgraded Sweetgreen or Cava or Chipotle, but really, that’s selling it short. The format (fast casual, bowls, medium-sized menu) is the same, but the food is about a hundred times better. Zooba hits classic Egyptian street foods like taameya and hawawshi with dips, salads, and cold beers. If you want lunch (but not like…proper sit-down lunch) in SoHo, this is your move. Ideal Meal: Lunch Price: $ Ideal Group Number: 1-2 Best Thing on the Menu: Cheese Hawashi Also Great: Ful medames, bessara, taameya salad, koshari Drink Order: Threes pilsner or or an El Arosa iced tea Note: You can eat Zooba at the restaurant, but walking across the street and sitting on a bench at Lt. Petrosino Square is my move"

"The $7.75 pickled lemon ta'ameya at Zooba A new fast-casual chain hailing from Cairo opened in Nolita, bringing a menu of Egyptian street food like we haven't seen before in New York. We loved the pickled lemon ta'ameya. The Egyptian cousin to falafel has a strong fermented flavor that’s everything. Pro-tip: Grab napkins because as you furiously nosh, the tangy beet dip will drip. "

"Wow, how did it take me a month and a half to find this dope egyptian eatery so close to me? We just got a couple of snacks here, but the fries were dope and even though the cauliflower wasn’t incredible, it’s flavoring was great. definitely need to come here for a real meal because it just had a dope vibe "

"Fast-casual spot serving Egyptian street food classics. The ta'ameya (freshly fried balls of mashed fava beans), hawashi (a tender meat-veg patty stuffed in fluffy baladí bread) and dips come in a variety of flavours and options, including easy-to-tote salads and sandwiches. Order: Full medames (stewed fava beans), za'atar fries, cheese hawashi, and pickled lemon ta'ameya. "
