"The available food and drinks highlight local culinary talent, including offerings from celebrity chef Richard Blais. His three-course prix-fixe menu and à la carte entrées are available with premium seating at select events, and picnic boxes can be pre-ordered and delivered to one’s seat. A food pavilion serves tacos from Lola 55—recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand—wood-fired pizzas from Biga, and other local options. What kinds of events can we see here? The Rady Shell is the summer home of the San Diego Symphony, which performs a wide range of concerts during its seasonal series—from classical works by Tchaikovsky to the music of Prince or nostalgic '90s hits with guest artists. Beyond the symphony’s programming, the venue also welcomes a wide variety of acclaimed performers. Upcoming acts include John Legend, British electronic duo Disclosure, stand-up comedy by Emmy Award winner John Mulaney, and more. How are the seats? Seating at The Rady Shell is temporary and customized for each event. Some shows offer premium sections with table service, while others feature standard folding chairs or general admission lawn seating in the back. Some concerts may be standing-room only. The venue notes that ADA accessible seats are available for every performance; call the ticket office in advance for assistance. The amphitheater's sloped design allows for good views all around, even from the back lawn. Good for kids? Shows with seating during the Symphony’s summer concerts or movies during the holidays—with a live orchestra’s performance of the feature film’s score—are more appropriate for families with older children. The symphony does offer one-hour concerts for families at the Jacobs Music Center in downtown San Diego that are best for small children.
