"Any Day Now bills itself as an all-day cafe, and the cozy couches and chairs near big picture windows indeed make this feel like a place you could hang out for hours (or work remotely for hours). The decor with pretty patterned wallpaper behind the bar almost feels like you're in the lobby of a fancy apartment that just happens to be serving jazzed-up comfort food. Chefs Tim Ma and Matt Sperber play around with the concept of dishes you might find in a New Jersey deli, throwing in plenty of Asian influences and flavors from across the globe as a curveball. Scope your fellow diners If you're here in the a.m., this place draws in weekend crowds for a scallion pancake breakfast sandwich and a lavender-hued Vietnamese iced coffee with ube. But the evening transitions to a more chill vibe for date nights or friend catch-ups. Let's talk beverages The cocktails aren't wallet busting (well, at least for this city), and they get even cheaper at happy hour at just $10. Expect to find unusual ingredients like cherry bark, blue cheese vermouth or Korean chili flakes. The beer and wine lists are compact. OK, main event: the food * Breakfast sandwiches assembled with crispy scallion pancakes, egg, cheese, chili crisp, and your choice of bacon, sausage, or kimchi are the most-hyped item—so much so that scallion pancake sandwiches make their way to the lunch menu as wrappers for a Big Mac-esque burger, pork with guava barbecue sauce, and a chicken club. But the menu adds more sophisticated items during dinner that are just as quirky. Think potato croquettes that resemble mozzarella sticks (but with tomato turmeric gravy) or braised beef kimchi spaetzle. Don't forget to save room for a big slice of cake."
